Blog to Facebook Syndication Sucks!

Keeping it brief; RSS to can suck! And the new spiderhousepr website is a perfect example of what can happen when you forget to turn it off!

blog social media syndicationWe haven’t been blogging or being very social recently…we’ve had a lot of work on along with updating our own website to be more inline with our current services. So there hasn’t been much Facebook action.

Our blog is sync’d to our Facebook Page to save time – it always has been and all is good when we’re blogging in a normal manner….but when we add lots of new posts and hit Facebook with lots of irrelevant posts one after each other it’s not so good!

So firstly apologies to those of you who faced the barrage of posts just before the weekend and secondly….please use this as an opportunity to learn!

Much as syndication can be a god-send for busy folk, it can also pollute your social networks and cause a drop off in interaction. You have been warned!

Our Blog Syndication Advice

1. limit syndicated blog posts per week to two – unless they are extremely useful / helpful!
2. ensure you post something non-self at least once per week – something you feel your readers would be interested in. 100% non-promo!
3. respond to all comments! Try to leave them open-ended (use questions!).
4. research has shown that posting every-other-day is the most efficient way of gaining “likes” and viral spread. Going over 1 post per day will yield less ROI
5. for gaining “likes” and “shares” 8am and 6pm are the best times to post….with 3pm being the worst
6. contrary to popular belief…Saturday is the day of the week that most items are shared (by a long shot!). If you only post mid-week aim to get in on Tuesday or Wednesday

How many times should I post per day on my Facebook page?

Hi – I was searching to understand what the FB Syndication means/does. It sounds like it gives them access to my info and allows them to post some of their info freely. If I allow the syndication will I be able to limit the access? I appreciate the assistance. Thanks.

Hi Martha, it really depends on what you are doing as to what access/permissions are granted – the application you are using to syndicate will tell you what permissions you are giving. Some more advanced applications allow configuration (eg for you to restrict or limit posting). This post was mainly about auto-posting your blog to Facebook….ie everything in your rss feed ends up on your FB wall
